Department of Royal Rainmaking and Agricultural Aviation (DRRAA) has carried out its operation for the forest aerial seeding project over the Kaeng Krachan national park and the catchment areaof Kaeng Krachan dam. This further step intentionally gets along with the purpose of reforestation on degraded forest area that is integrated by Royal Forest Department.
Dr. Surasri Kidtimonton, Director-general of DRRAA said on July 24, 2017 that according to the aerial reforestation project under the theme 9 days to auspicious day, 65 days to follow the late King determination, DRRAA has assigned Hua Hin Royal Rainmaking centre, at Prachuap Khiri Khan province, to scatter the seeds from the aircraft at Kaeng Krachan national park and around the southeastern area of its catchment after the Royal Rainmaking operation.The proceeding is to drop 2 species of trees namely Afzelia xylocarpa (Makha Mong) and Pterocarpus Macrocarpus (Pradu) . By the way, the project outcome aims to proliferate a forestry plantations and to increase moisture over the catchment area, which enhances the possibility of Royal rainmaking operation in the future.
Besides, DRRAA has always driven the project forward over other target areas that is situated around the northeast and central of Thailand. Similarly, the weather monitoring technique is functionally performed every day for an effective Royal rainmaking operation until the end stage. Then the aerial reforestation has been taken to disperse the seed afterward.
