Ministry of Agriculture and Cooperatives: Following King's Philosophy for Thailand’s sustainable development in remembrance of Father of Royal Rainmaking

Department of Royal Rainmaking and Agricultural Aviation (DRRAA) under Ministry of Agriculture and Cooperatives organizes “Father of Royal Rainmaking Day” during November 13-17, 2017 at Multi-functional area, Ratthaprasasanabhakti Building, The Government Complex Commemorating His Majesty the King’s 80th Birthday Anniversary, 5th December, B.E, 2550; Chaengwattana Road, Laksi, Bangkok. The event is included His Majesty’s Five-Excellence Royal Rainmaking Technology exhibition through AR Application, Royal Rainmaking 4.0 exhibition, King's Philosophy, Exhibition Contest, Photographs and Drawing exhibition: “Our King and Royal Rainmaking”, Initiative Project exhibition from other sectors under Ministry of Agriculture and Cooperatives and others cooperating sectors and agricultural products shops.

       On 10 November 2017, Mr. Surasri Kidtimonton, Director-General of Department of DRRAA is assigned by General Chatchai Sarikulya, Minister of Agriculture and Cooperatives of Thailand, to preside over the opening ceremony of Father of Royal Rainmaking Day 2017. The exhibition marks the 62th anniversary of the Royal Rainmaking Project and annually takes place on November 14 since 1955; the day that His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej has initiated to research the Rainmaking technology to help people suffering from drought after travelling to the rural areas of the northeast of Thailand. The initiative project “Royal Rainmaking” has been developing until now.

        The Cabinet, during its meeting on 20 August 2002, endorsed the proposal by the Ministry of Agriculture and Cooperatives for the title of “Father of Royal Rainmaking” to honor His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej, and November 14 each year has been designated as “Father of Royal Rainmaking Day” for Thai citizens to show their royalty and admiration of King Rama 9, and to commemorate His Majesty's royal grace.

        Over the past 60 years of His Majesty’s Royal Rainmaking initiative project, the project does not only benefit to social and economics of Thailand but the Royal Rainmaking technology has also transferred to the other countries. With his ingenuity, excellence and his great effort to apply his knowledge and expertise in the subject of meteorology to reduce natural disaster to the Thai people, “The Royal Rainmaking Technology” has been publicized and accepted at the international level. The Royal Rainmaking Project was granted a patent by the Department of Intellectual Property, Ministry of Commerce, and other organizations in other countries such as the European Patent Office and the Patent from Hong Kong Special Administrative Region of the People's Republic of China. His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej also granted permission to foreign countries to use Royal rainmaking technology to combat with drought condition. His Majesty’s Royal Rainmaking initiative project is the great innovation which is beneficial to both Thais and mankind.

       Mr. Surasri also said that the inauguration ceremony of exhibition called “Our King and Royal Rainmaking” will be held on November 13, 2017 at 7 pm onwards, where the government sectors under Ministry of Agriculture and Cooperatives and other integrated agencies such as Royal Thai Air Force and Defence Technology Institute are going to participate by holding the exhibition about the initiative project of His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej through 4.0 innovative technology with new media and mobile application, and other mentioned exhibitions.

       Minister of Agriculture and Cooperatives of Thailand Gen. Chatchai Sarikulya presided over the significant ceremony that is paying respect to His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej which will be held on November 14, 2017 at 1 pm onwards. The government sectors, State Enterprises and Royal Rainmaking volunteers are also invited to participate this ceremony.

        Apart from providing the public with knowledge and information about His Majesty’s initiatives in rainmaking technology, the exhibition also features knowledge sharing in agriculture and a bazaar of community products; including vegetables, fruits, processed foods, and non-processed foods with the affordable price.
