DRRAA strengthens the cooperation on Rainmaking Project for alleviating Jordanian suffering from drought

The success of Royal Rainmaking Project initiated by His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej has drawn global attention and brought in requests for sharing this technology to many countries including Jordan which have suffered from shortage of water.

The technical cooperation under the weather modification project between Thailand and Jordan has been started in 2008 which aims at applying the Royal Rainmaking Technology to reduce drought problem in Jordan. Later on, the bilateral cooperation has been carried on under the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed on March 23, 2016. Under the 3-year project work plan, there are several activities i.e. training, rainmaking demonstration, equipment establishment, application of rainmaking technology and effective project management. These activities are facilitating, supporting, developing human resources in Royal rainmaking for Jordan, as well as providing the equipment/materials for Royal rainmaking operation. It was confirmed by the Rainmaking operations during 2016 to 2018 that the Jordanian team is able to carry out the operations by themselves.

Dr. Surasri Kidtimonton, Director-General of DRRAA said that DRRAA is pleased to hold study visit on Royal Rainmaking included in the work plan for Jordanian executives, from 10 to 12 October, 2018, and provide them with the programs consisting of presentation on Royal Rainmaking mission, Royal Rainmaking research and development, and field study on an aircraft maintenance facility, weather radar, as well as Royal Rainmaking operation. This would result in further development on weather modification knowledge and management in Jordan. Furthermore, the discussion on the progress of activities under the work plan and working plan for the following years are added. It is, therefore, a significant occasion for both sides to enhance the cooperation on Royal Rainmaking project.

Dr. Surasri concluded that DRRAA stands ready to share and transfer experiences with Jordanian team in order to help them to strengthen capacity on rainmaking with utmost effort to response to the kind intention of His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej on alleviation of suffering of all mankind.
